The Groove Fitness Studio LLC opened its doors at our original location in Ivyside Plaza on January 1, 2015. It was not something my husband, Don, and I had planned on doing. An opportunity presented itself and we decided to go for it!
My goal when I opened was to create a welcoming, non-judgmental, friendly atmosphere for people to come and exercise. Where people of all ages, sizes, and fitness levels would feel comfortable. Where it didn't matter what you were wearing or if you knew anyone else in the class. Where the instructors and other class participants would talk to you and encourage you. Where exercise became something you enjoyed and not something you dreaded.
I added additional instructors. We added classes for seniors, for kids, and for the special needs community. I want everyone to be active, get fit, and live a healthy life!
Our year anniversary arrived and we celebrated with a party. Life was good.
As we danced, squatted, and planked our way through our second year, classes were full and we realized it was time for more room! As luck would have it, another larger space in the same plaza became available.
So as we continued classes in our original location, we got to work renovating the larger space. The renovation was truly a family affair. My husband, children, parents, brothers and many of my friends all had a hand in the renovations. I must give credit where it is due - Don and my son, Scott spent countless hours transforming the new space and did an amazing job providing us with a beautiful new facility.
We moved to our new location June of 2017. By September of the same year, we had also acquired an empty space next to us and took down the intervening wall for even more room!
The Groove is so much more than just a place to exercise. We are truly a family. Friendships have been made and peoples lives have changed just by walking through these doors.
Come and experience it for yourself, you'll be so glad you did!
Hope to see you soon,
Jen Burgmeier (Owner, The Groove Fitness Studio LLC)
